PERSONAL NOTE
Verdi´s Macbeth is definitely an autonomous world. Understanding this, helps to see the play in a hole different way, and thats a great starting point if you want to give such a powerful visual statement.
This particular approach intended to create an atmosphere in which audience is able to identify how isolated Macbeth is. The deep struggle he´s going through is intentionally exteriorized through the costume and set design by using sharp and rough shapes, metal spikes, a strong contrast between materials and a wide variety of influences that reflect Macbeth`s inner confusion and troubled mind. Certainly this is a breaking proposal that explores a fantastic world and enables audience to play with their pre-conceptions of the story and the characters.
