PERSONAL NOTE
The international Book Expo of Bogotá (Filbo) invites a country as a guest of honour each year. In 2015, Filbo´s committee decided to invite Macondo, the fantastic world created by Gabriel García Márquez in 100 Years of Solitude. A 15,000 square meters pavilion was delivered to several artists in order to bring that imaginary world to life. During the expo, more than 520,000 people came to see the artistic installations and to learn more about this incredible universe, setting a historical record for Filbo´s attendance. Macondo was brought to life as a tribute to the Colombian writer who passed away in 2014.
As an art director assistant, I had the chance to work in the conceptual design for the main auditorium, the "Gallera" and two other interactive installations: "Grandes Inventos" and "Espejismo". From the research process to the construction of the pieces, I was able to work with all the teams involved in the project in a tight schedule that made us all deliver our best .
